Skatepile.com - Real-time Inventory System
Skatepile consisted of a massive dynamic web based real-time inventory system. At the time this was a ground breaking development and had to built from the ground up. As the demand for product increased the need for a product back order system was needed. This back order system was built using classic asp and allowed the user to see inventory that may be out of stock but as soon as the product arrived at the warehouse it was scanned in and immediately sent an email notifying the customer that this product was in stock. Also incorporated into the Skatepile.com eCommerce design was a very efficient "Rolling Shopping Cart" allowing the user to have complete control of their shopping cart at all time quickly and very easily.

Skatepile.com - "Rolling Shopping Cart"
A "Rolling" shopping cart was design specifically with the customer in mind. This technique of allowing shoppers to see their cart at all times regardless of where they where on the site makes their experience very easy and intuitive. Skatepile's Fully editable cart has a tabular interface so that a shopper could edit the quantity and size of each item as well as remove items that where not wanted with just one click. Also this forward thinking eCommerce design intergrates more usability with the use of a currency conversion tool. Since many of the shoppers are from around the world it was found that the use of a currency converter would help increase sales by letting all shoppers regardless of country know exactly what the final total would be in advance. Also we designed and built an icon based view of your shopping cart so that we could give our customers a thumbnail view of each and every item in their cart all in realtime. We listened to the Skatepile customers and found that having the ability to see and edit their shopping cart in realtime while they are shopping was preferred to the bread crumb shopping cart.

Skatepile.com - "Tell Me When It's In"
"Tell Me When It's In" product reminder system is a system designed on the Skatepile web site that gives Skatepile shoppers the ability to put in a request for products that are out of stock right from the web site. It's not a backorder system. It's a very cool reminder system. This web based system on Skatepile let users who really wanted a product put in a request then allowing the Skatepile staff to make better more specific order to inline vendors. Once the product arrives in the warehouse a notification is sent immediatly as it is scanned into the system to the user who requested the product. It is then ultimately up to the shopper who requested notification to decide if they still want this item. This is another supporting tool to help drive sales to Skatepile.com.

Skatepile.com - "Search Engine Optimization"
When designing Skatepile.com, the search engine placement was always a major concern. Since being at the top of the search engine ranks for targeted keywords is imperative. We designed many interesting solutions for getting ranked higher. One such solution that integrated almost every facet of the Rollerblade industry was doorway pages. These inline specific doorway pages where designed specifically to drive sales. These pages where designed in such ways that they not only ranked high, but also looked good and were visually pleasing the shopper since doorway pages are notorious for being very generic and boring. As competition in the Inline Skating industry increased so did the need for better search engine rankings.
